DERMS
Distributed Energy Resource Management System
A Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) is software that manages, forecasts, optimizes, and dispatches fleets of distributed energy resources at the portfolio level. DERMS platforms coordinate thousands of DERs-batteries, solar, EV chargers-to provide grid services, bid into markets, and respond to utility dispatch signals. DERMS handles the intelligence layer: load forecasting, market bidding, value-stack optimization, and fleet coordination. However, DERMS relies on execution infrastructure (like Molecule's AERA) to ensure dispatch commands are executed reliably at the device level.
How Molecule Systems Relates
Molecule Systems complements DERMS platforms by providing the execution layer that ensures dispatch commands are actually carried out at the device level. AERA's fleet coordination capabilities provide DERMS-compatible orchestration with deterministic, edge-based execution - bridging the gap between portfolio optimization and reliable site-level performance.
